I remember my first licence.It was a provisional,obviously,and it cost 10/- (fifty pence in todays money)and was valid for 6 months,this was in 1960.Only up to 4 licences would be issued before it was compulary to take a test.This was to stop motorcyclists riding indefinitely without taking a test,as ther were no restrictions on engine capacity for learners then.Indeed,my first motorcycle was a Norton Model 18,of 499 c.c.Car driving lessons were £1 a lesson,and my driving test cost,I think, a£1,though the figure of 15/-(75 pence)seems to crop up in my brain.It all seems so cheap now,but it was a lot of money then.............Mal
