Which is why I chose Findmypast over Ancestry to do my research a few years ago. Even with a subscription they still charged £2.50 to look at individual records, them another £3.50 to look at the original record. I've recently signed in for another months worth and notice they are now not charging those extra fees to look at the 1921 census. ( £24.99 for the month)

Just done my first search my 3 year old mom living with her parents in "digs" in 61Fourth Ave. I never knew that!
yes jim the the 21 is great isnt it...i only use ancestry so for the past 2 years i have been lucky to have a friend who is subscribed to it so she has been doing my 21 look ups for me...now i can do my own :) it can also be useful in solving family mysteries

I have been a member for many years and wondered whether to renew my subscription in Feb but i am hooked now that they have 1921.
There may be a few hitches though ,my Grandmother was Hannah Maud Alberta but is Hannah M A on the copy written by her uncle who she lived with but on the Ancestry typed copy she is Hannah Mary Adelaide.

I was on holiday last September when my Findmypast subscription 'autorenewed'. Realised today they had taken the full amount and not reduced it by the 15% loyalty promised (around £30). They are going to refund to my card but it might be worth other subscribers checking.

Wouldn't have realised this if I hadn't seen the news about Ancestry and the 1921 census.

no not available on free BMD
you will only find the 1921 census on find my past or ancestry and you have to subscribe to both to view their records..
in the case of ancestry its £13.99 for month which is not a massive amount of money considering the records they hold

I have been with Ancestry in the past and had a problem with them asking for more payments than they needed to.

You need to make sure you cancel any sub before the renewal date. So if I subscribed today for 1 month I would need to cancel before 9th Feb.
A bit baffled by this: Grandad's workplace is listed as Wakefield Timerlliers, he was a silversmith.
Is that in Birmingham?
I'm not sure what that second word says - re you able to post an image?

Thomas William Gibson?

Can't see the scan but his occupation appears to include the word 'jewel' so I'd assume the workplace should be Wakefield Jewellers
