I have only just come across this site. I lived at number 10 Augustus road from 1943 (it was the HQ of the local National Fire service then) but a bit later when I was 9 to 11 I used to meet a milkman from Fellows Dairy with his horse drawn cart and I delivered the milk to number 17. All this before going to school. I think it was still an individual house then but I do remember at no 16 lived Norman Painting who played Phil Archer in the Archers radio serial. I have photos of numbers 10, 11 and 9, They where all magnificent houses with great grounds. I lived at number 10 (The Lodge) until 1963.
