Hi, i`m trying to research a soldier from the Great war who lived in Kings Heath and was killed in action 27/7/1916 on the Somme.He was 1186 pte.Frank B Stanton 16th R.Warks Reg.Are there any local archives i could check to obtain any information.He is listed in the Birmingham Pals book and i have his basic details from the CWGC website but would appreciate any tips or info, best regards Kevin.

Thanks Terry and Doug for your replies.Terry, in your Pals book page 192 you refer to no 1188 CSM Baker being left in charge of 2 platoons of A company.Could i safely assume that my man (1186) would have served with this company - this being the action he was killed in? Regards Kevin.

Yes, he would have been killed during the actions around the village of Longueval on 27 July, 1916.
