119 Livery Street

This is probably one for Mike, the Map Wizard!

I am doing a little bit of research for a cousin of mine, and can find his gt grandfather in 1881 at 119 Livery Street, occupation 'Inn Keeper'. Was 119 Livery Street a pub? There seems to be several houses at the back of 119, so was this an 'outdoor' - would that have been considered an 'Inn'? The man in question is John McInnes, who later was at 'The Black Boy' in Staniforth Street.

Joseph allen was also there in 1882, but John McInnes is listed as at the Crown & Anchor in 1880 (& from your data till 1881). It is a different landlord in 1879. again, this pub seems to change landlords quite frequently, as there are different landlords in 1878 and 1879. the pub was on the corner of northwood St, as seen on the 1889 map.

Oh excellent Mike, I knew you would come up trumps! I remember this pub, quite clearly. I wonder why John McInnes moved around so much. Puzzling indeed.

Cheers Mike, where would we be without you?
