    The one at Spion Kop was just a railway sleeper type thing with chains. I loved the wooden fort though--very Davy Crockett!

    That's right. Total blackness! We were told that occasionally floodgates would open and a torrent of water would sweep through! ----I don't think it ever did, but we were always wary of it.

    'SHE' absolutely hated me being in Row 1! She did everything to keep me out of it. Many of the children were from very poor families and she seemed to pick on and ridicule these children mercilessly (Incidentally, ALL the children in my time at Somerville were wonderful).     Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be the Bus station with the Birmingham Institute Digbeth in the background ,but it's not. The building in the foreground has 'GOVERNMENT' something above the windows.

    Pedro, you must have lived next door to the old couple who had a sort of model village in their garden! I lived on the opposite side.
