So is it safe to say that it ha gone by then? Or perhaps the use of the building has been changed?

    Seven Stars Inn, Solihull

Very true. Most "locals" do have an unofficial name.

    Seven Stars Inn, Solihull

It's almost as though it disappeared leaving no trace. Very odd as we have a date of it being there.

That was my next step to check the censuses. It sounds as though it wasn't there very long but if that's the case, it must have had quite a extraordinary "end" and that would have been reported in a newspaper. I have even been checking the property sales (some have been held in that particular...

I have wracked my brain and neither do I. PMJ: There is Wroxall Abbey which is between Solihull and Hampton in Arden. It was turned into a hotel but closed down last year. https://www.wroxallestate.co.uk/wroxall-abbey

If the magistrates sat in the public hall, the Seven Stars would be in the row of buildings across the road. Thank you!

I don't know if you are familiar with Poplar Road in Solihull. The old council house is still there and the police station used to be next to it so as I read that piece from the newspaper again, I wondered if the Magistrates could sit either at the police station or what we know as the...

Sorry, I jumped to a conclusion which is something I shouldn't have done. You are right, it could have been long gone by then....

Gosh! You have all done very, very well. Thank you. I think that sometime between 1888 when The Seven Stars public house was there and 1940 when PJ says Seven Star Road was built, the pub was demolished, I imagine. At least Geoffrey Martineau (of Martineau Sq in Bham fame, I presume) confirms...

Do you know if Cold Lands Wood is still there? On the map that PJ has provided and drawn a green circle around the cottages, I would imagine that's where Seven Star Road is now. I could be wrong though. I often am! PS Thinking about it. I wonder if Bryanston Road is now where Cold Lands...

    History of roads

Thank you. Aren't these old maps fascinating. No, I'm sure it didn't exist then. It could well have been named after the pub called the Seven Stars so I shall have to see if I can track that down.

Yes, that does sound like Coventry.

    History of roads

Yes, I think that the Seven Stars would have supplied a very apt name for when the council was putting the road through to Lode Lane from the Warwick Road. Hence, as we have it today; Seven Star Road. Thanks for the cutting above. It's very useful. Perfect, thank you.
