If you purchase the marriage certificate you should get the full name and marital status (e.g. widow, widower) of each party.
Do you know about the FreeBMD site?
In the March Quarter 1902 it records the following two people in the marriage index:

Using this information you can purchase the marriage certificate from the GRO.

I have done a search for a Mavis Dobson born 1917 +/- 10 years. There is this possibility but it is only a guess.

I would suggest that you purchase the marriage certificate. That will give you the name of her father and his occupation and hopefully her age. That may assist you to find her birth. It should also give you her second name and this may enable you to find her death.

A thing to remember when ordering certificates is that the more fields that you put in for the GRO to match the higher the chance of rejection. Remember that while the father for example may have been named John Albert Smith by his parents he may have...

If you change the spelling from what is recorded in the indexes the GRO will usually reject the request as it does not match what they have.
If you also included the parents names it may be that they did not match and it is the wrong person. Unfortunately...
