My grandfather was Arthur Stephen Fisher, my nan Mary Elizabeth nee Hick. Their children, Arthur, Ernest, Lilian (my mother), Frederick, Florence (Dolly), Albert, Stanley.

Hi Astoness thanks so much for that.I do remember going to meet my mother there on a few occasions (at least 60 years ago!) and I do recognise the building. Thanks for the memories!

Thanks for replies. We used to live in Beach Street and Freeth Street was at the bottom. Will look up the Facebook page. I think my mother must have worked there pre 1947.
My grandmother lived in one of the courtyard houses in Beach Street Ladywood. She had eight children in a tiny back to back. Anyone know anything of her or her family?
My family lived in Ladywood. My grandma lived in Beach Street and one of her relatives ran the local shop Hicks's. Anyone know of the shop or family. My grandma's married name was Fisher.
