    I don't think so as Graham's memoirs tell us that his father installed, electricity, running water and sewerage after purchasing Old Barn

    I'll have another look but i don't think so he was only about twelve when he moved into Old Barn, after working for a while he went into the army and became a Tankie. He followed his parents out to NZ in 1947 after marrying my aunt

    Hi! Viv This may help to clear your baffles: Frank was in a senior position with Dunlop at the time that he purchased the Old Barn. In the mid 1940's Dunlop were setting up a tyre manufacturing plant near Christchurch New Zealand. Maybe an offer too good to refuse Frank went out to New Zealand...

    I have wondered whether the two cottages that Frank Armstrong knocked into one were Wiggins Hill Cottages but the entry in the 1939 register suggests not. I think that I will be havng a holiday in the archives next time I'm across in the Uk

    Hi! When my Uncle purchased the property it consisted of two cottages a tythe barn and land . It was known as Old Barn at the time of purchase. I have a copy of the newspaper article but I'm not convinced about the previous name that is mentioned.

    Francis was known as Frank. Although the photo isn't clear I think that the lady is Frank's wife Blanche nee Harrison-Evans

    Hi! Lyn Yes! the photos were taken by Francis. I don't know who took this very grainy picture. The young boy is my Uncle Graham aged about twelve. The two men are his father Francis and Derek the brother of Francis. Unfortunately I don't which is Francis and which is Derek
