I was born on Albert Rd in Aston. For its first ten years up until at least 1870, it was called Garibaldi Rd until it changed to partner Victoria Rd running parallel to it.

I have spotted both of the Maps of Birmingham volumes on Abebooks, both for upwards of £20 plus postage. Given the rudimentary nature of their publication and their rather "preloved" state of repair, they are fetching a pretty penny. Someone must be interested.

I went to Prince Albert Primary up the road in the 60s/70s and we all knew this as "the Annexe". I had some of my lessons there and I think my form class was in the Annexe for a year. I have been racking my brains and searching trying to find what this school was originally called since old maps...

That sounds about right. I remember batter as being crispy with bubbles and fish being solid and flaky when I was very little. That soon switched to soggy, flat batter and mushy fish for a while.
