    Hi Elaine, thanks for this, although I remain somewhat confused - maybe it’s the heat! I understood the one on Curzon Street was the Duddeston Row one………….? atm I’m not getting how Albert Street fits into the picture, but probably should revisit old maps.

    Hello, Fabulous saving of the photos! I‘m getting a bit confused about Birmingham pubs called The Woodman. This says The Woodman Albert Street, and there is another thread about The Woodman Duddestone Row. Are these two different pubs or has the street name changed historically? Harriet

    No, not Joy, my Grandmother was definitely Ivy, and she was the only girl - but I just checked the 1911 census and it could be read as Joy if you didn’t know any different. And I was astounded when I saw the comment that it would be good if a descendant turned up......... delighted to oblige...

    Delighted The Woodman will survive HS2. I was so glad to discover that the place my grandmother lived as a child had actually survived, given the rest of the street didn’t.     Hello everyone, If this is The Woodman Inn that used to be on Duddeston Row then my Great Grandparents were the landlords in 1911 aged 32 and 28 and my maternal grandmother was 8 years old; and there was a living in servant Emma Haddock age 24.
