Any of you remember Steve Kazee? He was at Essex Street when I was there and his younger brother Con Kazee was a mechanic at Granville Street.

I was on the Jaguar phone in the main office upstairs where all the stock control bins were. Mr Studholme's office was in the corner. (Secretary Anita?) so I witnessed many outbursts, usually when he was on the phone to Jaguar or Triumph. I remember the auditors arriving and he had a row with...

Mike Collins drove a Cortina Mk2, dark blue, always immaculate even in the winter. I can see him now turning into the car park that is now apartments. 50 years ago!

I remember Bob Yeomans. He was a Special Constable and lived in Chelmsley Wood, plus was an ardent Blues fan. I remember when he applied for the Blues manager's job! He was pals with Chris Spilsbury and Chris and I used to see Bob in the Scarlet Pimpernel pub in Harborne. I think his dad lived...

Great to see you on the forum. Mick Collins did National Service in the RAF, mostly stationed in Germany. He was also in the Merchant Navy, a mess steward I think. Was I correct in thinking you were mates with Albert Stretton?

One method used and this might apply all those years ago is that one of the years will have a split month, i.e first half of February for form J, second half of February for form F. I've seen this used in some modern Comprehensives, although like Lordswood in those days, Comprehensives actually...

It's 50 years ago this month when I walked through these doors for the first time. I drove there the other day for a trip down memory lane.

    Worst car of the 1960's

I worked as a storeman at Coles on Coventry Road in 1971. Coles was a Reliant and Toyota agency. Even in 1971 the Toyotas (I remember the Corolla and the Crown) were superb cars. The spares supply (rarely needed) was excellent. Toyota had a 'shed' in Dover for spares. I still remember the phone...

Seeing your photo took me back to those days especially as I see John still had the sideburns! Do you remember when he left P J Evans by any chance please?

    P.J. Evans Essex Street

Terrific bloke and excellent manager. I always remember a man coming into PJ's in Essex Street when I was on the front counter in 1973. He asked me for a speedo drive for a early 1950s Jaguar XK120. I could not find the parts book so I asked your dad and without hesitation he told me the part...

    Motorcycle Shops

I left Copes in 1970 but very impressed with Japanese motorcycles. The writing was on the wall for the British motorcycle industry. I particularly remember the Honda CB92 125cc. A work of art and still are. I'm told they can fetch at least £6000 in good condition these days. The Suzuki 100 was...

    Motorcycle Shops

Yes, MCE, I went there once when I was at Coles, Coventry Road. The owner was Sidi Harris I think. He was a friend of Bobby and Benny Coles if I remember correctly from 1971.
