Hello again. My great-grandfather (William Reed Sr.) worked at 32 Vyse Street, Hockley as an Electroplate Polisher at Messers Synyer & Beddoes, according to the information he gave on the 1921 UK Census. In addition, his son (William Reed Jr.) worked at 108 Vyse Street, Hockley as a Toolmaker...

Here is a very elegant Art Nouveau style glass scent bottle with silver overlay made by Henry Herbert Friend circa 1920.

Henry Herbert Friend may not have been a good book keeper, but as you can see from the attached photo he was a master silversmith. Attached is a silver cigarette case which I found on an online website and which bears his silversmiths mark "H.H.F."

Thanks for the recommendation. Coincidentally, my great grandparents William & Lily Hill lived at 24 Court 12, back of 154 Guildford Street from the 1920's up until when the back-to-backs were knocked down.

Thanks very much for that. I know from the 1921 Kelly's Directory that it was a "Dairy". Then through the war and until the 1940's it was a General Store owned by Annie Louisa Starkey (b.1877- d.1962).
