    Infant Mortality

With the high mortality rate for children in the past I do wonder how our ancestors dealt with this ever present threat. Was it viewed as big a tragedy as it would be now or was it just accepted as a fact of life? How did parents who lost multiple and sometimes all their children cope? It's hard...

    Warwickshire CCC

Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be a general thread the club. Came across this interesting article while tracing someone's relatives. A story about one of Warwickshire's most famous cricketers and perhaps one of their more disreputable ones, which alludes to a secret arrangement...

    Dudley Diary

Not quite Bham but may be of interest... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-62290114 ...though it didn't take much time to work out that she was Lilian Harriet Green, daughter of Albert Louis Green and Harriet Fuggle. That her father died when she was young, that she had an unnamed sister...

    Berrow / Devey Family

I did mean to type Henry Charles, originally because that is how he appears on his baptism. It could be a C but I'm not certain. I do think it's the correct family. Another sister and brother also moved to Bham and Henry is with his brother Robert in 1891.

    Paradise Development 2022

Building works are still progressing, One Centenary Way looks to be near completion (at least on the outside). I was in town last week and it was surprising how much space there is around the buildings, they look really close together from the live cameras. Planning permission has been...

    Greaves, Ruth & George

Certainly one (Ruth) and possibly both distant relatives. Marriage reg. Solihull 1896 but possibly was at Christ Church, Burntwood. Then it looks like they divorced in 1907, interesting in itself. George may have been a soldier (possibly Boer War) and then possibly emigrated to US on the...

This is the photo I mentioned on the 'Write It Down' thread. I don't know the year or how much of the photo is missing. It looks like it may have been folded, so the tear may have been deliberate.

    Newspaper Request

I'm not sure if newspapers are still part of a standard membership at findmypast but if so could someone with such please paste a copy of the story that appeared on 25 Mar 1923 in Glasgow or 29 Mar 1923 in London about a Francis Henry Simmonds (b Bham). If it isn't then not to worry. Many thanks.
