    Grand Union and Olton Mere

    Olton Mere was created in 1799 as a reservoir to feed the Grand Union Canal. It is situated on the border of Solihull and Birmingham. The Mere has suffered from the drought. I took this photo on Saturday. It took me 40 minutes to walk round it and only saw one heron and very few other birds.

    Pub at 6 Legge Street in 1851?

    Does anyone have any knowledge of a pub at the above address? A relative of mine, Thomas Allen, appears on the 1851 census as being a licensed victualler at this address.

    I am interested in Alfred Alan Nicholls. The 1911 census shows him as a licensed victualler at 222 Watery Lane. Is this a pub?

    Belgrave Road Pub?

    My next door neighbour tells me that her mother was born above a pub in Belgrave Road, I sent off for a birth certificate and it showed that her mother was born in 1925 at: 2 back of 164 Belgrave Road. Can anyone tell me if 164 Belgrave Road was a pub in 1925?

    Westley Brook Cottages, Acocks Green

    My Great Great Grandfather, Isaac Frankcom is shown on the 1900 / 1901 Worcestershire electoral register as living at Westley Brook Cottages which I believe was on the Warwick Road. Does anyone have any knowledge of these cottages, or photos?

    Berkeley Square, Coventry Road, Small Heath

    In 1905 my grand father and grandmother got married at B'ham Registry Office and gave their place of abode as the above address. I've known Small Heath most of my life, but I've never heard of Berkeley Square. Berkeley Road, Hay Mills, yes. Can anyone help?
