Aston Church Road has re-opened, went across the new bridge this morning. You could only turn left at the A47 island so it was a bit pointless for me.

On the 1901 census there is a Matthew J Butcher listed in Aston/Sutton Coldfield. He is listed as an Architect. In 1911 he is listed as Retired, industry listed as Building Trade.

Speculation only. On the 1950 ER there is an Arthur Terry listed at 12 Loxton St with wife Elsie (nee Hassall) and in laws. They married in 1947 and he was listed as Arthur J Terry. Elsie was b1925 so a similar age.

His listed at that address on findmypast, with an Alfred & Ellen Smith which is not much help.

He may have been in the Welsh Fusiliers and died in WWI 16 Sep 1916, buried Belgium. I think his service records may have survived.

There is an Arthur Terry on the 1911 census in Aston b1886 Bham who is listed as a Brass Worker. He was single and the son of William Henry and Mary Jane.

The 1841 census has to be treated with caution. There is not enough information to infer relationships between people in the same household in some cases. Birthplaces for people born in England were only listed as born in the county they were living in or not, so the 1841 would not show a...
