I used to work at Lewis Badges in my youth,so did my mother,hence the interest. What you really notice is the complete lack of houses now,it's like a ghost town after work,or weekends.

Well it certainly solves the second question;) obviously just a shop,not a pub.

The Shakespeare - Sparkbrook Old favourite,been around years.Seems to have had a clean up,some paint,and is now also trading as a hotel.

Went past there the other day,think the name has changed.

Looks like a nice locals pub,shame to loose it,but it happens,and at least we have those two wonderful pics to commemorate it. Good luck with the outside pics,we're all waiting with you.:thumbsup:

Well gentlemen the answer to why any pub looses trade can be found within each customer. Wonder when it closed down?

Thanks Louisa,I'm giving it a whirl now.Unfortunately mum is blind in one eye,and has no net at her home anyway,I would have liked her to see it.

Now at the side of this is another building,actually on Summer Lane,it does look like a pub,and maybe was years ago.It's well boarded up now.Any ideas please?

Constitution Hill - now I'm sure this was a pub years ago,it's now an arab type resturant. Anyone put a name,or story to it please?

Here it is from a different angle,showing some of the waste ground around it.Wonder if it's closed to make way for a new development? It is indeed so close to town,and a lot of that area is scheduled for redevelopment.

Sounds an interesting tale Astonian,but of course tact and diplomacy won't let you make it public. Not sure how long it's been shut now,but as a listed building do hope they can find a use for it.

Sorry I couldn't take a better pic.It's only an old Cannon digital camera,and even standing on the other side of the road you could not get all the building into the shot.
