I was always given hot lemon juice to drink. Everyone else would have a spoon of honey too, but I never could stand honey. Eating raw onions was also prescribed, but my favourite "cure" by a long chalk was ice cream (although they all worked pretty well)....:cool:

I use a walking stick myself and struggle with walking/balance as it is, without having to try to negotiate those barriers they have put up. I don't think they gave a thought to those of us that aren't as mobile as we were, when they decided to put them up. I guess the idea is to stop cars...

Some nice postcards showing the swimming pool above. My great aunts lived in George Road facing the park and had a lot of photographs taken of the swimming club and the bicycling club in around 1910-20, wish I had them available to share now.

Answering my own question, I would say that it was taken facing George Road, with Witton Allotments behind the photographer. The opposite of what my previous words had suggested.....:oops:
