    Blacksmith, When a casting of brass or any other metal comes out of the mould it has rough pieces of metal which have to be taken off before the final polishing is done this process is called fettlelng so i think your ancestor was brass tap polisher.Len

    Angela, Barrage Balloons were not moved from place to place during air raids as it took to long to inflate them and the the needed an anchorage point, they were on static sites as far as i know. Len.

    Hi dwilly, The house on the corner (currently being turned into apartments) of Station Rd on the R/hand side before you get to the swimming baths was occupied by Dr. Masters our family Doctor and he was a very nice man. Len.

    Hired The Bulls Head aka The Manor House for my wedding reception circa 1956 a very well run pub at that time, had to go to court with the pub boss to support the application for an 11:pm extension. Len.

    My Sister has lived in Albert Rd for over 60yrs. Two of the large detached houses at the top of Victoria Rd on the left hand are used as a care home, a friend was resident in the home, it was a very nice place. Len.

    Pomgolian, I worked with a Father & Son named Spittle. the Son was Leslie Spittle,the Father came from London, there was also an Uncle Named Kenneth Daniels on the Mothers side, don`t know if this info may help.Len.
