    Aston Commercial

As a Bluenose, I'm hanging a swag of garlic around my neck as I post this! It's my uncle, the little 'un in the middle of the front row, playing for Aston Commercial at Villa Park on May 12th 1943. Anyone out there on the photo or have relatives there?

    Air Raid Precautions Handbook

Especially for Chris! I particularly like the last one. Obviously the only way to deal with a fire bomb is to put on your best business suit, shirt, tie and hat BEFORE attending the problem!

    Fox and Dogs 1915

Morning Miriam. It has the address written on the back as Little Sutton Lane but I thought I know a "Fox & Dogs" on Little Sutton ROAD, Mere Green. Not sure if the name of the road was previously "lane" or this pub was there but is no longer.

    Air Raid Precautions Handbook

This is Handbook No 14, "The Fire Guards Handbook". It's only 6" x 4" but contains lots of interesting info about stirrup pumps, incedary bombs and how to rescue people.

    Birmingham Theatre Royal

Here's a programme I have from the Birmingham Theatre Royal. It was putting on "crest of the Wave" by Ivor Novello. Unfortunately I've not been able to find the date but I've contacted the chap who runs this interesting site (don't know if the link has been put up before)...

    Fox and Dogs 1915

Here's a picture of one of my relatives by marriage outside the Fox and Dogs, Little Sutton Lane, in 1915. Can anyone confirm the name of the landlord please?

Gun Quarter or Gun Factory photos - plea for help

Thanks Mike, but I've renamed them with the word "New" preceeding the titles and still no good. On the "Manage Attachments" screen when I "Add Files", instead of appearing on the "Home" section it goes straight to the "Attachments" bit but the thumbnail is greyed out although the file name...

Gun Quarter or Gun Factory photos - plea for help

Hi, I'm having trouble putting on the photos. When I go to "Advanced" and select, then upload, photos they appear blank. Is this a current Forum problem? I've never had this problem before. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Gun Quarter or Gun Factory photos - plea for help

Hi, I put on some stuff some time ago but most of it was lost when we changed hosting. Here it is again. " Birmingham Gun Quarter I've got a copy of an article written by Dr D M Smith from the University of Manchester sometime around 1964. It makes fascinating reading (perhaps some of...

Birmingham Schools Football History / & photos

Bob, it was Bordesley Green Technical School. We did have a big defence coupled with a few of us wimpy - but quick - forwards. David Benbow was the butch goalie on the Sunday team. I only put that pic on because it was mainly the same team as the school one, I thought it was relevant.

Hi Chris, don't know. I tried to find out from the Council last year who owns the land but in typical Council fashion no-one wants to reply.

Birmingham Schools Football History / & photos

Following on from David re: BGTS team, here's 1 plus the Sunday league team we formed from the VERY successful school team. I notice there's a flying right winger pictured top left on the school photo and again bottom left on the Sunday team. Plus, I have to say, a big butch goalie 4th from the...
