Hi Jean, which pic is it?

The winter of 1947 was one of the worst Birmingham experienced. Here's how the milk was able to be delivered even through the worst of the snows. After the snow came the floods. In Tame Road, Witton a Co-op customer hopes he doesn't drop the bottle thrown to him.

Here are 2 pics of horses pulling bread delivery carts. The first shows George Bailey and "Bullet" delivering bread from Harding's in 1920. The second is of Norman Watts and his horse delivering for H Joyner of Stetchford in the late 1920's.

Last Saturday I was in Erdington and took these photos so members who can't get there can see the progress.

I didn't realise when I put the first question just how many others had similar interests. I'm learing quite a bit now, thanks. BTW my relative was a Silversmith, as was his father, brother and his son. I suppose they must have walked to the Jewellery Quarter which wasn't that far to go to work...

I've just found a new relative on the 1891 census living at 12 Court 6 House Berners St, Lozells (joins Lozells Rd). I can see it on myBartholomew's But wondered if anyone could pinpoint (or close!) this house. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone (Mike?) help with pinpointing this Avenue please. The family were living very near Sherbourne Rd in the 1901 census and I can find Sherbourne Rd on my 1952 Bartholomew's but not Branston Ave. This is from the 1911 census. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your comments Alan. I got that info from the Royal Warwicks museum. The chap in charge went and brought down several documents including the original book where the details of my Grandad's service etc was handwritten (I have photocopies). Although those dates are as shown in the book...

My grandad joined the Royal Warwicks (Date of Attestation?) on 21st March 1912. He was in Flanders from 6th Oct 1914 until he was wounded in August 1915 and came back and married while on "furlough", then Gallipoli from November 1915 until February 1916. He then served in Mesopotamia and India...

Thanks for the info Mike, but my Grandfather wasn't born until 1891. His mother lived on a farm in Handsworth and wasn't married so I imagine the address would have been a midwife or something similar.
