    Scams via telephone, email 2026

Touch wood, I've never been scammed, but yesterday a pickpocket got me. Took my wallet with only £40 but the hassle of losing my driving licence & also a little packet with some of my dogs ashes really upset me. Bank card has been blocked so they can`t use it. Surprising how much of our life we...

    Brookvale Park & Witton Lakes

Loved the rowing boats half a crown for an hour. Took a girl out and pulled in to the island in the middle & left her there (just for a while) She was not amused! They also had a motor boat which cost 4 pence for a circuit of the lake if memory serves me.

    IN OUR GARDENS 2026

Depends on your neighbours Jim. A big hairy overweight naturist then a 6 foot fence is essential. As the saying goes... You can choose your friends but you can`t choose your neighbours.

    IN OUR GARDENS 2026

I`ve been having an unwelcome visitor for several days now.... a rat. It`s not afraid to show itself during the day, i watched it climb up a dwarf cherry tree & leap across onto the bird table for a good munch. I`ve since moved the cherry tree but it`s still hunting around under the bird...

    IN OUR GARDENS 2026

Starlings have become nuisance again, arriving in swarms & devouring the seeds & sultanas in seconds from the bird table. They`re even managing to cling onto the feeders ( so many they broke one of the feeders) I even rigged up a tin with a couple of marbles in & string attached which i can jerk...

I had a small leak in my summerhouse (less than a year old ) Phoned a local handyman offered him £200 to refelt it ( I had the materials ) he said he wasn`t interested. Is he just too lazy or got too much money? I would do it myself but at 83 i`m not allowed up the ladder after what happened...

    IN OUR GARDENS 2026

Nice to see goldfinches back in the garden, none at all last year. Plenty of the usual spuggies, blackies, tits. chaffinch, doves & one lonesome pigeon. Weather here in south east Durham has been good compared to most parts of the country,{ I've probably jinxed it now } Angels don`t always...
