This medal is inscribed with my grand-dad's name and 1943. He lived with us during WW2 and as far as I know he was a 'fire-watcher' (in Birmingham), having previously served in WW1. Can anyone tell me anything about this medal please?

Yes it does look as though dad's head has been superimposed on the photo - I had actually thought about that possibility before you mentioned it as the edges of his face look too sharp. You need to find the culprit!

Anything's possible with todays photo-fettling programs! Which one is your dad?

Yes. The area is still known as Alcester Lane’s End. Not sure how it got that name though!

Couldn't quite work out what the background was so I built some more houses!
