    Photo booths of Birmingham

Seeing this reminded me of the time me & my two mates went up town. While we were there we recorded a flimsy plastic record in a booth that resembled that shown. "Bits and Pieces" by The Dave Clark Five was the song of choice and we had great fun recording it. Even 60 years later, I can still...

Location help: possibly Bordesley ? Tranter's coalyard ?

Just a final observation (from me). The lampost on the corner is shown "edge on" so, does that suggest it is lighting a road that is running behind the house? That would make it a T junction or a fork.

Location help: possibly Bordesley ? Tranter's coalyard ?

Only saw this thread today. If I may, here is my opinion on it. I can only see a factory building rather than a bridge. You can see faint images of a drainpipe and a window on that building as well as the large opening. I've enhanced what I can see in this attachment. Sorry, just another opinion...

    Birmingham Cinemas

I remember the time we went to the Bristol Rd when Cinerama first came out in 1963. We saw "How the West was Won" which was filmed on three separate screens side by side which gave a depth to the experience. I remember the fight on the moving train was simply brilliant as you felt you were...

    Bundy clocks around Birmingham

I was part of the S.V.R 1940s event a couple of weeks ago and took this photo outside of their Kidderminster station. Although I couldn't hear it ticking (due to a single decker bus engine noise) it showed the correct time. When I returned the following day,the correct time again confirmed that...

    Whitehead street, Aston

I made this image of the junction of Whitehead St & Alma St using various photos. I then thought I would bring it to life in a (very) short video. It's based on the summer of 1967 when half our street had gone due to the devolpment of the High St dual carriageway. Incidently, this is the...

    Then & Now

Joining two photos together, I made this panoramic photo of Salters hardware shop which was situated on the corner of Gerrard St & Wheeler St Lozells. Also, using Google Earth, what that location looks like today.

Ponds Tools Steelhouse Lane Corporation Street

They were in Steelhouse Lane in 1954. Probably moved due to demolition scheme in early 60s.

I worked at Coventry Rd garage 1968-1973 firstly as a conductor then as a driver. They only had Daimler Fleetline CRG6 buses when I came out driving but they were still two man operated. I drove both garage routes 53 - 54 Stechford & 58 - 60 Boundry (nicknamed "the monkeys" by Stechford crews)...

Hi Lyn, yes, subject closed but, I've noticed that my post on this very topic is #10 on this thread and also #471 on the Icknield St thread. Is it okay just to leave it? Also, I wrote a post on my Bundy Clock experience, thinking it was on this thread but, it's #478 on the Icknield thread. I...

I went to the Central Library and found this photo in the Wolfson Centre. I have to say, I'm pleased that my made up image #45 is so much like the real thing. In 1967 I lived at No9 which is next to the factory and that is my Ford 100E car parked outside. What a find!

I worked at Coventry Rd Garage 1969 - 1973 firstly as a conductor then as a driver. They only operated Daimler Fleetline CRG6 buses when I came out driving but they were still two man operated. I drove both 53 - 54 Stechford & 58 - 60 Boundry (nicknamed "the monkeys" by Stechford crews) and...

Hi Radiorails, the text says otherwise. The one photo says Icknield Square & Leach St is in the background which suggests that the bus is heading for Spring Hill. The other photo mentions the Post Office which suggests that a bus would be heading for Hagley Rd. You have to CHECK THE MAP. Unless...
