I have been told today of a Working Mans Club on Nechells Park Rd. I'm told it was somewhere near the park and it was there in the late 50's early 60's. I don't remember this club myself so could anyone confirm this for me and if it did exist could anyone tell me what it was called? Chocks

I always thought that Norman was Harry's son, bearing in mind I was only about 5 yrs old at the time but my mom went on to work for Norman in the 60's. That's how I got to know them.

My coach left Jamaica Row at midnight getting me into Gosport 5am then worked all day before going to the Mondaynight hop in the NAAFI. Tuesday was always a blur. God help us all if war had been declared between lunchtime Friday and lunchtime Tuesday.

Try Robert Low's Viking books (Whale Road through to Prow Beast). Strongly recommended by Bernard Cornwell. They are also written in a similar style to Cornwell but a little more difficult to read because of the high content of Norse within the text. Great reading.

That's what it's all about Eric. Although the cadets can give you a good footing in life their ultimate role is to introduce you to life in the forces. I served 4 years in the Sea Cadets and went on to serve 18 years in the RN. Chocks
