As a lad I remember Woolworths, in Harborne High Street, was packed with Chad Valley toys.!!

I find it funny , in this time of high tech, that as a lad , I remember horses everywhere, delivering milk and bread, delivering from BR, on the farms, on many roads in town, very clearly widespread in my life time !!!

It looks like the West Brom bus, I used to catch outside Snow Hill main entrance , to go up the Soho Road, to my Nans in Handsworth!!

So many memories Pete, so true, I remember that old punch machine too, I left to join the army at 15 years old, my dad said he wouldn't come, but as train pulled out, saw him peeping, around one of the old iron columns. many memories!!

Maybe sentimental, but I loved the old smokey, dark, and eerie, Snow Hill, maybe because I went so much, as a child, lad, and youth, I always seemed to be there, so many memories!!

There were lots of WW2, US, helmet caps, woolen with a peak, kids loved them in the 50's.

My dear old dad, always wore a brown Trilby, and trenchcoat in the 50.s...

I remember both illustrations, the photo, walked up that same hll many times with my dear dad, as child, and the Tram terminus, was always packed on Sundays, when there would be massive queues to board the various Tram numbers, very happy days for me!!!

TOC H was still around in the early 1960's, it was a CofE religious organisation surviving from WW1, sally Anne, and WI still around with tea wagons.

It does exist, but not as we old sweats remember, gone are the shops, and bars in barracks, gone are the housing quarters shops, and gone are the clubs, we all remember with gusto!!

I visited in 1961, Richard, for a coal board apprenticed career, we went underground , it seemed a very long way to me, they also told us that part of the workings were walled off, with a fire raging still, from an accident in the early part, of the century.!! needless to say went in the Army...
