    The Wylde Green Public House

    We used to trudge across a field from my Nana's in Green Lanes to the pub. in the late 50's. It was usually to catch a bus from outside there. Sad to see it go. In the winter we sang Good King Wenceslas as we jumped from one of nana's footsteps to the next.

    The Sallies (Salvation Army) used to gather around with the band and escort some of those coming out of the pub safely home!

    My view as a child looking out of my parents' bedroom window was the one Terry has. The upper brickwork was red brick and not painted over and the mural was on in 1962 when we left 117 Hunters Rd. My old house is not there now but the 115 and 117 were similar to 119 and 121 in the picture.

    Cherry Orchards of Birmingham

    How fascinating this is. My brother and I went to Cherry Orchard school from 1956 to 1962 when we moved to Ipswich. My memory of the cherries along the snicket to the playing fields was that they hurt when the boys threw them at you. They were never edible.
