    The Druids in Birmingham

Re Barr Beacon, the Aldridge History website says this.... The name Barr Beacon was first referred to as such in documents of the 17th century, although the name Barr is almost certainly derived from the Celtic “barra”, meaning summit. Early antiquarians thought this to be a centre for Druidic...

Very interesting! I see that one of their premises was at 54 Soho Road, that is now the Sikh Gurdwara building and was formerly a Polish club for those men who stayed in the UK after WW2 I remember my Dad telling me?

Bus Conductor uniform and ID badge

There's a thread in our buses section about the first lady driver in Birmingham ... BCT's First Lady. It doesn't say the year but I know the first lady driver in London was in 1974. There were of course some lady drivers during the war.

Is that the Edgbaston Wellington Road they mean as a suggestion, not the Handsworth/Perry Barr one? More likely I guess.

    David Bowie in Birmingham

I wonder if it was actually the Mackadown pub the band played at? I know bands played there in the mid/late 60s as I went there a couple of times.

Kung fu film scene in Birmingham - Does anyone remember these?

Sounds great! No, I like subtitles, always rather see films with them than the dubbed versions. I like Jackie Chan too and also Jet Li. Going off topic a bit now but I've seen the Shaolin Monks performing at theatres in London twice - amazing!

Kung fu film scene in Birmingham - Does anyone remember these?

Yes, that was very sad. The films might seem a bit corny but he was an amazing athlete. Interesting life too, he was also a good dancer and was a Cha Cha champion back in Hong Kong when he was younger!
