We ought to gather all these memories into a book!

I went into Thornton's in Reading yesterday, and it reminded me how upmarket their chocolates used to seem, especially the Continental Assortment. And the Easter eggs with your name piped on them.

It was magical how Instant Whip became semi-solid as you whisked it. Angel Delight was fluffier. I bet the main ingredient was sugar!

Boots used to sell chillblain tabelts. I think they contained vitamin B5, and they made you feel very hot. They stopped selling them ages ago. Perhaps they were unsafe?

What a sad story.

One morning my mother dried a pair of my ankle socks under the grill. They were just a bit damp, but of course no tumble dryer!

I can remember making milk shakes with Delrosa rosehip syrup.

Liberty bodices. It's a hazy memory, but I'm sure the bodice was in addition to a vest. They had rubber buttons...

And we also remember the words of hymns!

First and second post, yes. And around Christmas they used to happen at odd times of day, more than twice? There was a horrible thick pink medicine, but I don't know what it was.

One year I had one of these, but it was blue. The slides were Huckleberry Hound.

Also one of these, at around the same time. The Postal Orders and other bits of paper were especially interesting!

One of my favourites was a toy telephone exchange. Can't remember the year, maybe early '60s?

This picture was on Twitter today: Town centre, looking down Albert Street. The building on the right with the rounded frontage was always interesting becasue of its shape, and the decorative top part. I can't remember if it was a carpet shop in the late 1960s, which is when my memories start...

We've also been watching it and found it very entertaining. (They were two of my father's favourite actresses). I've been reading a bit about Joan Crawford, who was very troubled and contradictory, even more so than is shown in the series, perhaps. We also recorded the film, but haven't seen it...
