    Not if you owned a Ford . If you asked a young lady if she wanted a lift home the chances are it would not be there when you came out. Always go to a pub with a bus stop outside ( voice of experience ).

    Used to drink in there when a pint of Double Diamond was 25p a pint and on Wednesdays in the 1970s they had a disco where you could'nt dance . The DJ was George McGill. Great memories.

    That looks like the entrance to H M TRIGG the blacksmith i remember that from the 1960s and 1970s . I also remember the Post Office opposite the church and there was a greengrocer also opposite the church i think it was Maycocks.

    Agree with that . Going back down Church Road from the Swan island that row of shops in the 1970s i am sure Blue Circle Taxis were based there. A bit further down on the right was a model shop before Harvey Road.

    Love to know whereabouts Church Road that was. The other picture with what looks like a delivery boy is opposite the church and on the left hand side further along would have been H M TRIGG the Blacksmith.

    Yes the smell of diesel fumes fish and pigeons using you as target practice .Oh the good old days people don't know they're born today At least you were dry.

    The entrance to the Public Works Depot was in Cardigan Street in which ended up rightly as rover said City Engineers Department. Fleet Maintenance looked after Council vehicles the yellow livery Housing vehicles Parks department Social services vehicles Gritting lorries . Plus the depot housed...

    I am sure they had a parts department British Leyland dealers also in that area was PJ Evans Bristol Street Motors and i think Lex Brooklands the Volvo dealership.

    I think the greengrocers was called Grenvilles with a butchers next door. Please correct me that iam not going mad but iam sure the floor of the butchers collapsed. .

    I think the gents hairdressers was called Vaughns on the same side as Prams n Things was another gent hairdressers Vic Kents who also had a shop at the Wheatsheaf . A shoe shop Malones or Marlones an opticians right outside the number 15/16 bus stop. There was a greengrocers iam trying to rack...

    I remember Dawkins the newsagents just past heading towards the Yew tree on the corner on the right was a laundry . Further down on the same side correct me if iam wrong a shop called Prams n Things .1960s era.

    Worst car of the 1960's

    Loved and still loved the Stag . To be honest most cars from the 60s 70s and early 80s would rust and fall apart as you drove them down the road. Thank god for a tin of P38 body filler on a dry Saturday morning.
