Used to cover for my mate when he went on holiday so about three weeks a year in total. A temp really used to be paid 21 shillings an old guinea. Sunday papers with the extra supplements meant if you rode a bike you had to get the balance right .

Was at my daughters this afternoon and heard and ice cream van playing the tune Teddy Bears Picnic.

Great picture those are the Mr Whippy ice cream vans i remember. The knack of working machine and getting the ice cream to twirl around into that lovely shape then sticking a flake in it. Lovely jubbly fancy a Jubbly anyone.

Superb post great memories. Showing my age now this is a newer van with the distinctive livery pink and cream i think Tonibell vans were Blue.
