    maggs, do not go to the SNOWDOME at Tamworth then £8 in the week for 2 hours & £9 on Friday Nights for 2 1/2 hours (Friday mornings 10 till 1 the only time you get a longer skate for £8 ) & I used to think 2/6d was to much !!!!!

    I am with you Bernard, used to cost me 2/6d for a session of skating at the old rink. Now I have to remorgage the house to take the family (Grankids). Things like this are just like the cost of petrol, as long as we pay the price then they will never go down. I say NATIONAL BOYCOTT is needed lol...

    Wished I had been on that line only remember collecting tent & camping gear from Mortehoe/Woolacombe station back in the 50s BUT have rode our bikes from That long gone station to Great Torrington & the other way to Ilfracombe.It must have been one fantastic sight. THOSE WERE THE DAYS

    I like the then & now Dave ,We skated on WYNDLEY due to it being out side the park & the wardens could not tell us to get off, the Police would have to deal with us instead :0)) & they always had other things to do in that bad weather :0)) The cafe always had a ladder to hand if any one went...

    Yes John,that was me & that was our back lawn not a pond. Its a thing with me that when we have cold snap like this folks can have a very safe ice rink in the back yard, 3" of ice over the lawn or any flat area can make a great rink . Will be nice to put a face to the name so post those pics...

    I have a Norman Hampton in our tree he married Barbra Benton around 1940s in SUTTON COLDFIELD ENGLAND UK. I think the whole family were Sutton folks.
