    Birmingham butchers retail

My grandmothers marriage certificate has her father recorded as: John Henry Willetts, ( butcher, deceased) Searching the newspaper archives yesterday with his surname hoping to find an ad for Willetts butchers was unsuccessful, maybe he was an employee? I did however find his cause of death...

    Findmypast Divorce records

Yes, I did see this information whilst googling before starting this thread. However you still need to know that someone had actually divorced to have the names, dates, ref number, etc to apply for a certificate. I'm beginning to think it's a little misleading of FMP to add 'Divorce' to the...

    Findmypast Divorce records

Seems strange, I must have searched hundreds of people during 2022 and never seen a divorce record appear once. My parents divorce doesn't appear. Also my G Grandfather names his brother on his probate record even though his wife and three children are all alive at the time, did they divorce...

    Shoes

I remember queueing with mum for Daily Mail shoes, Tuff slip-ons (iirc) for the winter and school. Black 'Pumps' or sandals were usually worn in the summer. These days it's Sketchers Go-Walk series, like walking on marshmallows.

Many thanks for the pointers @MWS I don't have an open ended FMP subscription, just grab a months worth when time/finances allow to research a family line. I hear Kelly's mentioned a lot on here. Of course I've googled it to see if it's free or subscription online to search but am drawing a...

Blimey Mike! No I haven't yet. I've been going through my male line (Johnson) and just quickly jotted down Annie's details/parents etc with every intention of coming back to the Child line. An Ancestry link I found on Google tells me that the Child family are fourth cousins of Benjamin...
