Dockers Paints, Rotten Park Street, Ladywood

Dockers were taken over by paint company Pinchin Johnson in 1927, which in turn was acquired by Courtaulds in 1960. Courtaulds then bought International Paints (later to became PPG) in 1968 through its subsidiary Pinchin Johnson. Presumably Dockers then became part of International Paints...

Events at Embassy Sportsdrome, Walford Rd.

One of my childhood memories of The Embassy Sportsdrome centred around Alf Kent who lived near us in Muntz Street in Small Heath and was an ex professional wrestler. He was a referee on T.V. in the 1960’s and also trained actor Pat Roach to become a wrestler. Alf got my brother and me some...

    IN OUR GARDEN 2023

    Forward Radiators - Cherrywood Road

I remember visiting Forward Radiators in the 1970's when they were manufacturing and painting fuel tanks for the then British Leyland Group. John Sandever was my contact there. Does anyone know when the factory closed down? Did the site become Metal Treatments or was that a different site?

Royal Flying Corps Royal Air Force WW1

I have a copy of my great grandfather's RFC/RAF service records, but I don't understand what the abbreviations mean. I'm keen to find out where he served and what he did in WW1. Can anyone help please?

King Edwards Grammar School Camp Hill

What year did King Edwards change to Waverley Grammar Lower school? I started there in 1959 and it appeared well established by then.
