Not quite Birmingham but reading 1921 census information I find
Thomas Rowe - occupation; motorcycle agent at - 1 Hagley Road, Halesowen.

The hospital was closed but not demolished; it was converted into up market apartments but still known to older Romsley residents as "The Sanny".
Whilst the sanatorium was in Worcestershire it was owned by Birmingham so records will...

Looking through Romsley area census returns I see that:-
Mary Course of Dayhouse Bank worked as a mental nurse worked there in 1921
and even further removed from patients......
