Hi Lyn, just wondering if your map of 1828 has any house numbers shown or anymore detail? The oldest map I've found is dated 1889. Phil

    Newtown Row

Hello Rob, thanks for the map and P.O. entry. Number 11 is my 3 x great grandmother Ann Matthews. I assume "Walmer Lane brdge" is the canal bridge? Do you know where numbers 9 and 10 would be? Thanks again Phil

    Newtown Row

This is probably a question for Mikejee, can anyone pin point number 11 New Town Row please. This is where my 3 x Great Grandparents, Charles and Ann Matthews, were living from 1841 to 1875. Ann appears on many trade directories as a "Furniture Broker/Dealer". A map or photo would be great. Phil

    Clifton Road Aston

Hope you all had a good Christmas. Just found this thread and I was wondering if anyone knew Annie E Doyle nee Craney who lived at 15 back of 129 Clifton Road, Aston. She was there in 1965 and she was step-daughter to my Grandfather. Her husband was John D Doyle. I'm trying to find out the...

Hi Suzanne, Thanks for this. You did give me the other listings before on a previous post. It was just the other two numbers that I needed confirming. Thanks again Phil

WW1 Look up for Charles William Page

Hi Suzanne, I know this an old thread but I was wondering if you could double check for me this information you found either on the Electoral Rolls or Absent voters list for my Grandfather. The 497357 number you gave me apparently belongs to a Henry Hunt 1/13 Batt. London Regt and not Charles...

    Park Road Hockley

Sad indeed. My parents married in 1942 and moved to Park Road in that year. They both worked at Rabones, just down the road at the Abbey Works.

    Park Road Hockley

Hi Carolina, What's the date of the article? When I lived at 2/214 those living at 216 were Gordon Parr and his mother Mrs. Parr, I forget her first name. The memory that stands out for me about Mrs Parr is she would make Egg Custard, in a cup, for anyone who was ill. Cheers Phil

    Park Road Hockley

Hi Mikejee, I like the way you post street maps with house numbers would it be possible to show maps for 2/214 and 298 Park Road as well please. I lived at 2/214 from 1952 to 1969 and my grandparents lived a t 298. The stretch of road from Abbey Street past the Railway Tavern Pub would be good.

    Chandelier manufacturers

Hi Janice, Thanks for this, I think you've found the right one. I believe Thomas was born in Dudley then the family moved back to Birmingham for his baptism. When you look at the census records Thomas's place of birth is Dudley but living in Birmingham at the time of the census. Hope you agree...

    Chandelier manufacturers

Based on what you have given me I now have the possibility of pinning down Thomas's year of death. I believe he was born about 1845 and from the BMD website I have two possibilities for his death as 1917 and 1919 aged 72 and 74 respectively. I've sent an IM, thanks. Phil

Hi Mike, Once again thanks for this. Thomas certainly seems to have a number of strings to his bow. This is the right one because I know Sarah is his second wife. Would it be too much to ask for copies of the electoral roll you found? Does Thomas appear on them with Sarah for these years...

    Chandelier manufacturers

Hi Mike, No problem! My fingers never follow the brains instructions, I always have to type everything twice. It would be nice to have the map of St Marks as well if it's not too much bother. Can I ask you to look for another address in Kelly's please. I have the 1911 census for Thomas at 14...

    Chandelier manufacturers

Hi Mike, I wish I could find maps like you do, they certainly show exactly where the people lived and worked. just one thing the other address from the clipping is Saint Marks Street not St Martin. I believe St Marks Street could be just round the corner from Ingleby Street. Is there in chance...

Can anyone please help with any information on Thomas Horton Bird, who might be my Great Grandfather. I have found this clip from the "London Gazette" of 1883 referring to a change in ownership of his business. Also does anyone know where Saint Mark Street and Ingleby Street are? Thanks Phil
