    French Walls, Smethwick

Am I right in assuming that Muntz Street in Small Heath, is named after this company? Assuming you know of course!

    French Walls, Smethwick

Or even a map of the area!

    French Walls, Smethwick

Yes, the area still exists - I was 100% sure that when I looked on Google Maps that it would no longer be there. Sadly, French Walls Row has gone.

Greetings, Please see attached a picture of my Great Grandfathers birth cert. I am interested if anyone can tell me anything more about the area of French Walls, Smethwick at around the time he was born in 1871. Thank you.

Help - trying to find William/John Smith in my family history - it's a bit long!

Greetings, You have all been very helpful with my past requests, so I thought I would see if anybody can shed any light on my Great Grandfather William/John Smith as I am going around in circles and I really don't know if I'm chasing the right person. What I'd like an opinion on: is it...

    36/40 Dudley Street, Birmingham - 1891 Query

Fabulous - thank you. As you say, possibly on the other side of Old Meeting Street. Probably the larger of three buildings if it had to house the Bradshaw Family and 9 servants.

Do you have any idea what year (ish) this might be, please?

    36/40 Dudley Street, Birmingham - 1891 Query

The returns say Municipal Ward - Market Hall, Parish of St Jude. If there is a modern build there now, I've obviously gone for the first Dudley Street that popped up on Google and not considered there was one in the City Centre.

    36/40 Dudley Street, Birmingham - 1891 Query

Greetings.... me again, My grandmother is listed in the 1891 Census returns as being one of 9 servants at 36/40 Dudley Sreet, Birmingham. The family that own the address at the time of the 1891 census returns are Richard and Alice Bradshaw and their sons/daughters. With the description of job...

Sorry Lyn, I meant to thank you for pointing that out, but I got a bit distracted. Who knows, it might even be a relative of mine. Mrs Bear

Wenman Street and Edwardes Street, Balsall Heath

Astoness - I will check, but if it's on Wenman Street, I'm pretty sure it is what I'm after. Thank you - it is quite fabulous!

Radiorails - Not a problem in the slightest... as you say - at least it's now out there!

Wenman Street and Edwardes Street, Balsall Heath

I don't know - are they not the same location - I'm going by what was written in the Census returns and some of the handwriting is very bad, plus I may have recalled it incorrectly! I have so many addresses going around in my head, as I'm using lockdown to collate the family history and I...

One is my mother, the other my Cousin - if my maths is correct, he was 15 when the picture was taken, thankfully he is still with us and recalls his time working for my father fondly.

    Bordesley Green Road

Radiorails - Do you want me to put it there for all to see? I have no copyright interest in the image as I clearly didn't take it and the other side of it is a postcard format, so I imagine it was in wide circulation.

    S.F.Wheeler. Shoe Repair shop

Just realised I had these images.... though why he purchased the premises in 1958 and waited until 1962 to get started is a mystery to me.
