    W Joesbury Printers

Hi Gaz Thanks for keeping looking through your piles of paperwork. It will be interesting if you do come across a floppy disc (I remember those!) and are able to access anything. Please keep me informed. Bob

    W Joesbury Printers

Hi Gaz Thanks for your reply. I remember that Joesbury's were taken over by Smith Brothers of Whitehaven in 1959 the year before I finished my apprenticeship. I then moved to Bristol so lost track of everyone there. If you have any paperwork or photos I would be very interested. Thanks. Bob

    The Jewellery Quarter

Hi mikejee Thanks for information. I wish I could remember when I took the photographs. It was obviously with a small basic camera as the quality is not good. I think I was trying to capture old Jewellery Quarter empty factories before they were demolished to make way for modern monstrosities!

    The Jewellery Quarter

Sorting out my old dvd's, I came across one with a lot of the old factories in the Jewellery Quarter. Not sure when I took these and do not know the names of most of the buildings. It was probably when I was visiting my uncles factory Arthur Wardle & Co. in Albion Street. The company is still...

    EDWARD ROSE (BIRMINGHAM) LTD

Hi Peter Thanks for information on Plated Strip Int. All information is useful, particularly names and time frames in putting together the complicated history of the company.

Having trouble in uploading files as I am being told they are too large so have had to do thumbnails. Also first page of Sunday Mercury article did not go through so try again! Sorry no joy.

    EDWARD ROSE (BIRMINGHAM) LTD

Update from yesterday. I did not find the file but found some other bits that my Mother had given me. The first is a company profile from Banro from which I enclose a company list. Unfortunately there is no date of when published. The second is an article from the Sunday Mercury of 1959.

    EDWARD ROSE (BIRMINGHAM) LTD

I started researching the company a few years ago and built-up quite a thick file. Unfortunately it was mislaid in the last house move. I am searching the loft at present! The file had information on Banro including an annual report so I am hopeful in finding it eventually. The lockdown has...

    EDWARD ROSE (BIRMINGHAM) LTD

Thanks Pedrocut. I cannot find any trace of Metal Reclamation Ltd in Birmingham. I remember visiting 99 Snow Hill and it was not a very nice place under the railway arches. Could be that it was shared premises as Edward started on a shoestring.

    EDWARD ROSE (BIRMINGHAM) LTD

You're absolutely right about exhibition work. Lots of headaches, hard work and waiting about for late deliveries with overseas exhibitions the most taxing.

    EDWARD ROSE (BIRMINGHAM) LTD

Thanks for the Birmingham Post article. You were correct about the tie-up of the three companies that I had assumed was simply an exhibition stand share. I cannot find any connection with the other two companies in the 70's and 80's only Edward Rose as a stand alone company.

    EDWARD ROSE (BIRMINGHAM) LTD

Thanks jfs. I think the association with The London Aluminium Company and Smiths Sections was a stand share by the three companies to spread the expense. I did some stand work for Edward Rose at the NEC and Frankfurt through my own company some years later, so know the high costs involved.
