    The space shuttle

On my first visit to Australia I went to an exhibition in Darling Harbour, Sydney where they had a Russian space shuttle and was able to climb all over it, sit in the loading bay and view the crew area. My thoughts about it was that the electrical components looked like the stuff I'd worked on...

    Home made traditional food

Now look what you've done, made me dig this out of my drawer. A friend gave it to me many years ago and I used it a lot over the years but not for a long time, I suppose I'll have to shop for the ingredients now. ;)

    Birmingham Anglers' Association

I wonder if that 'place in the country' was where our dad used to take us, we knew it as Fernhill Heath because that was where the Midland Red dropped us off but I later found it was actually Martin Hussingtree somewhere between Droitwich and Worcester. I recall us walking what seemed like about...

    Hybrid & electric cars

Have a look at this one Richard, it's a bit out of date now as it was made during and just after the Covid shutdown here in the UK and Europe but you'll get the gist.

    Hybrid & electric cars

The talk about six year battery life and the cost of replacing/recycling is largely oil company propaganda Richard, most EVs built after 2012 have batteries that will outlast the life of the car, have a second use life as storage batteries when they're below par for traction and even then have a...

    Hybrid & electric cars

Earlier this year I upgraded from the 2014 Zoe to a top of the range 2020 Zoe, the difference is very noticeable, softer ride (less VW like) quicker charging and longer range between charges 240 miles against 105 in the older car, I had all my original money back as a part exchange for the old...

    General Election history, Birmingham

My mother was a Liberal voter, at the post war election the liberal candidate Nora Hicks used our front room as a campaign office, I well remember her telling everyone that Labour were a terrible lot and a vote for them would be wasted. She didn't get in the Labour man won. At the next election...

    Street furniture

In the village I lived in when I moved from Brum all the phones and electrics were on poles, over the years most were removed and the cables laid under the footpaths. Problem then was that because of ancient culverts getting in the way some of the mains electric was just four inches under the...

    Computer help

I don't have that problem, some long time ago at an auction there were a few UPS (uninterruptible power supply) units for sale, I bought three kept one for myself and Ebayed the rest, power outs are dealt with in milliseconds so I've never had a fault caused by one.
