    The Ice Cream Man

    Not sure when but either the late 40s or early 50s around Warstock the ice cream man in a van was called Mc.Nabs, was fantastic ice cream to us kids.

    My mother lived at 213 Bradford Street in the 30s with her parents and brother who worked at Ingall, Parsons and Clive who had thier works at the top of the hill in Bradford St. close to Warner Street, believe they made funeral furniture.

    Les Burgin in Egypt

    My dad was at Dunkirk in 1940, then in Egypt 1942/3, in the 8th. army, and finished up in Germany in 1945 under Montgomery. he rarely spoke about the war either.

    The cycle shop on Robin Hood island was Hopkins, and it was still open 6 years ago when we moved to Somerset, with the same old chap running it.

    Remember Winters bike shop well, we lived opposite Gorleston Rd., moved there when I was 15, before that we lived in Highters Rd.halfway down the hill, I went to Grendon Rd infants and juniors, then Yardley Wood for 2 years and then Wheelers Lane, do you remember Cadeys daughter?, a nice girl.

    Hi. Speedy. The Cadeys did live in the house you mention, he had a Riley 1.5 at one time and his daughter used to work for him selling the petrol, I asked her if she fancied a ride to Earlswood on the pilloion of me BSA B31 one day but she refused, I lived in Highters Heath lane.

    Hello Old boy. The building I was thinking of was on the right hand side of Wagon Lane going from Marcot Road to Barn Lane, close to the bend in the road on possibly what is now the recreation ground.
