    Ooh, can you post a photo of it please? It sounds rather lovely. Skull caps in the seventies were the height of bridal fashion.

    Thank you for posting the photo. There’s nothing sad about it - such ephemeral items are part of our social history. I was fascinated to read (from the paper bag) that there was a branch of Grey’s in Stourbridge, which is where I now live. I shall now have to hunt down its location. I love a quest.

    I think the shortage of money has always been a great problem for museums wanting to fund some of the less glamorous work, such as cataloguing and conservation. The thing is, if we don’t donate the ephemeral and unthought-of items, such as old catalogues, they will be lost forever.
