    My Gt Gt Grandmother Hannah Tucker is in the 1901 census at 146 Wellesley Street. The shop in the photo is at 148 next door, so maybe she moved there later. Maps of 1889 show no housing there so a relatively new build at the time. Thanks to Astoness for picture 7293 which shows the address...

    Hi Cath, I have an ancestor by the name of John Hodges who was a Beer Retailer, resident at 39 John Street in the 1881 census. We were always told he ran a pub called The Jockey in Aston, but I can find no mention of this name except for the Horse & Jockey in Wheeler Street. Perhaps the name...
