    My late father, Stewart Hughes, initially owned the West End Stamp Co after taking it over from the Norfolk Stamp Co, and sold the business to Simon I believe in the early 1980's. He is visible in the attached 1974 photo.

    Went to the primary and junior Bournville Schools in late 1950's and early 1960's. Loved the smell of the chocolate wafting across the school when the wind was blowing in the right direction.

    My late father owned the stamp shop on Needless Alley - The West End Stamp Company. I worked there on Saturdays during the 1960's. I believe he sold the business in the early 1980's. Attached is a photo of Needless Alley and one can see STAMPS written on the wall by the door.

    What number did you live in?? My parents were still living in number 45 in 1976. I watched the playing fields being done with heavy equipment.

    I lived next door to the college on Weoley Park Road until 1973. Do not recognize the building in the photo, which may be the side facing away from the road. I believe the college closed in 2001 and subsequently the college buildings were demolished and houses built on the area.

    Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (cripples Hospital)...the Woodlands, Northfield

    My mother, Audrey Carle, was a nursing sister at the hospital in the late 1940's and/or early 1950's. She moved from London after WW2, where she had treated the first victims of the buzz bombs.
