    where in hockley

The sign is from the Victorian era which made me think perhaps one of the houses used to be a shop. From 1900 to 1932 (at least) No. 55 Ingleby street was a shop. This does not prove that it is Ingleby Street but perhaps other Hockley streets had a shop in front of Laurel Place

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

I don't think that photo is in the right part of Barr Street. I have attached an aerial view form 1948 and marked the approx. position of #177. In 1955 there was a coffee room next door at #175.

It appears that the area around #74 suffered bomb damage in 1940 which probably resulted in demolition in this area.

In 1939 they were living at Roshven Avenue, Balsall Heath. May be a coincidence but in 1939 there was another Weaver family living at 266 Camden Street.

    Grotto pub Camden Street Hockley

Looking at the aerial view Mike , the chimneys look correct as is the gap on LHS and also the the 'V' section on the facade of the factory next door. EDIT: Just realised you wanted to know if it was the photo that had been hacked which obviously this post does not answer.
