    Selly Oak Hospital

I worked at SOH in 84/5 before moving to QEH then the Matty (Womens) and my wife trained and worked as a nurse there from 1986 to close and relocation to the QE. She recognises a couple of the wards pictured above and managed a couple of them. I was actually born at SOH and after starting work...

    Motorcycle Shops

God, plastic pig, I haven't heard that in years!!! Ever since I could remember my dad drove one and when you were out if you saw another one on the road, you had to acknowledge each other. I remember one time we were going to Sussex (which took about 7 hours in a reliant!) and a guy was...

    Motorcycle Shops

Back in the day the front yard had 2 rows of bikes, then the showroom was behind that. To get to the workshop there was an opening between the houses to the left and you could ride round straight into the workshop.

    Motorcycle Shops

Just spoke to my mom, as this was such a long time ago I'm getting my memories mixed up, this wasn't the site of Stirchley Motor Cycles but Tafty and my dad were good friends. She thinks he may well have taken over the Stirchley MC premises after dad and Bob move to Selly Oak and Kawasaki City...

    Motorcycle Shops

I haven't been down that way for some years now but I am reliably informed that the dealership is still going. Apparently they sell Axiam cars?

    Motorcycle Shops

I think the guys who took over the premises after Bob and dad moved to set up Kawasaki City in Selly Oak may well have done that. I vaguely recall seeing that too.

    Motorcycle Shops

Hi Grea, I'm sorry I've not heard of the Pavilion Cinema. The Stirchley Motor Cycles my dad worked at was more or less opposite Birmingham Motor Cycles where the Pershore Rd narrows going past the bowling alley towards the Dogpool pub.

    Motorcycle Shops

My Dad worked with Bob Perkins, they were called Stirchley Motor Cycles, virtually opposite Birmingham Motor Cycles on Pershore Rd. It later became a Reliant dealers and I think it may still be there.

    Double Zero Club

Hi Bob. Yes it's definately my Dad and my uncle Chris. The reason I was keen to become a member of the forum is that my dad is sadly suffering with a form of alzheimers and has recently gone into care. I am keen to try and get as many stories or anecdotes from people who knew him as he seems to...

    Double Zero Club

Hi. My dad used to go to Double Zero back in the late sixties, although I don't think he was a member. He used to manage H & L Motors, a triumph dealer on Dudley Rd. When I was little I used to go to work with him as my Mom also worked at H & L as the bookkeeper/accounts. I remember Johnny...

    Motorcycle Shops

Hi everyone, new member here. My Dad used to manage H & L Motors on Dudley Road back in the late sixties/early seventies. They were primarily a Triumph dealer but also sold BSA, Norton etc. When that closed he worked at Stirchley Motor Cycles on Pershore Rd and then they opened Kawasaki City in...
