St Margaret Mary's Church Perry Common Road

Sad individual that I am, really puzzled by this church. I was actually there but for the life of me can't remember a thing about it. I obviously know the people concerned but it ends there. It was in 1962 and lots of weddings since then!! If anyone knows where it is the BHF people will know.

HEATH STREET - Before and After

My Dad worked for Parkers for a short time. His name was Frank Willis and I have a feeling my grandfather David Downing worked for them. I actually met Harold Moult but as I was a snotty kid at the time can't remember too much. He did make me laugh, I remember that much. I used to scrounge lifts...

    Heath Street memory

Hi it's me again. this photo is of me and my brother outside 11/381 Heath Street. Don't know the name of the horse because he belonged to the rag merchant Parkers in Heath Street. I also remember a Harold Moult who lived up the same street but on the other side I think he was a rag merchant as...

    New house 1954

This is me in our new house. We moved from 11 back of 387 Heath Street as part of the slum clearance in 1954. The move was mainly on the back of a lorry which belonged to the rag merchant in Heath Street. Posh we were! The property was a flat at number 1 Gorsymead Grove Northfield. It was ever...

I previously posted about an ancestor called Winifred Maud Hill. She married a William Longman in 1941. Sadly he was an air raid warden and was killed in by a bomb blast in Rookery Road Handsworth in 1942 probably not married for a full 12 months. She married again some 20 years later. Details...

MARY ANN HILL BORN TIPTON 1876

It always amazes me at responses from you people at BHF. It's wonderful. I joined BHF years ago and view it every day and it's brilliant and people are so helpful. I'm still no nearer the details of Mary Anns death but the grandchildren information gives me other avenues to explore. As an aside...

MARY ANN HILL BORN TIPTON 1876

There was someone else at the address but don't know who I didn't go into the back room where she was in bed and she was very poorly and it was the end for her. She wasn't going anywhere else. I haven't found any evidence of grandchildren. I don't know why she was in Wolverhampton but suspect...

MARY ANN HILL BORN TIPTON 1876

She was definitely in Wolverhampton when she died. I remember it was a terraced house straight on to street and my age at the time corresponds with the assumption she died between those dates. I checked a couple of deaths same name in Birmingham but they came up as the wrong ladies. Very common...

To get to the story, my mother and father took me to an address in Wolverhampton, don't know the address! When we were there it was explained...

    Great Tindal Street Ladywood

Hi Bushbaby, Sad to say Patrick is gone but so are his parents Arthur Slaney and Patricia Slaney. The younger sister to Pearl was Tina, born Millicent, and there were two brothers apart from Patrick. They were Arthur (Archie) and Paul and all are still going strong as far as I know. The family...
