Wheeler Baker tracing family members 1800s/1900s

I've looked at the GRO site and it doesn't give an option for an instant download for £3 - am I looking in the wrong place?

Wheeler Baker tracing family members 1800s/1900s

To answer Lyn from the other thread, the last sighting for Lily Baker/ Wheeler is the 1911 census. There are some possibilities as far as death etc. goes but the best fit is I believe was for 1952 in Birmingham, aged 74.

Ok, this is what I have so far. There is already a post on here regarding the Wheeler family and, more specifically, Liliy Baker (born 1878). She is my Great Aunt, her sister in law is my Great Grandmother. The original post was put up by JaneMTaylor and is still an open thread I think. Please...

Thank you for that Pete. If his wife was having mental health issues would it be easier / cheaper to put her into a workhouse rather than a mental hospital? If so, how do I find admissions lists online?

Yes, the thought process is based on the Sherlock Holmes line of thinking "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth"

Thanks for the reply Lyn, I'm not sure about the facts yet, it is a long shot suggested by friend of mine. I think it unlikely but wondered if there had been any precedent for such a thing.

Please forgive me if this has been asked before but was it possible for a husband to place his wife into a workhouse under her maiden name ?

Hi Jane, I've only just started to look into this mystery and, reading through the details on here, I must commend all of the hard work done by yourself and others. If the split in 1911/1912 is right would she would have been likely to keep in contact with the three girls I would have thought...

    Mission Hall in Graham Street

Thank you all, I realise it was a bit of a long shot but the information came from a family source that has been very accurate about other matters in the past. Was it common at the time for an individual to set up a place of worship?

    Mission Hall in Graham Street

I'm researching my the Bithell family and have come across a letter that states that the Mission Hall in Graham Street was founded by someone called John - he was possibly the illegitimate child of John Bithell (1844-1912). Does anyone know anything about the Mission Hall please?

    Shops in King Edwards Road

Thank you Mikajee, that is most appreciated. Would it be likely that he rented this shop? I ask as I've also found a Richard Bithell at 92 Bacchus Street in 1904, if renting, was it unusual to move around like this?

    Shops in King Edwards Road

I am researching my relative Richard Bithell and have found an entry in Kelly's Directory. He is listed in 1908 as a shopkeepr at 114 King Edwards Road. This fits with what I know about him. Can anyone point me to any details about shops in the road at that time or maybe any photos please?
