    The Woodman New Canal Street

Bathams of Brierley Hill, do a very nice best bitter and a tasty mild. My friends and myself, will definitely look forward to popping into The Woodman again, to see what it has to offer.

    non contact.

Mike has explained that, much better than I would have been able to, at #9 above. By the way, I did go a few weeks without getting e-mails too, but have now started to get them again over the past week or two. Nice to hear from you again Paul.

New HS2 Station in Curzon Street

I read the following in "The Times" on Saturday and I found the article quite shocking, for more reasons than one: Birmingham will be left with a vast “white elephant” station after Rishi Sunak’s decision to scrap large swathes of the HS2 project. Sunak announced in October that the second...

    Ozzy Osbourne (John)

Ozzy and Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath, were a big part of the recent new kit launch video by Aston Villa. If you haven't seen it yet, it brought a smile to many faces , it was very nice to see the boys playing themselves and having such fun again...

There is a more recent thread that is well worth a look. It has photos/information on this graveyard and is titled: Park Street Burial Ground

    Handsworth Golf Club

Further to my previous post. I have found the following from "A brief history of the Midland Gliding Club" (1) & "UK Airfields & Airports" (2) : "a training ground was acquired at Handsworth, Birmingham where pilots enjoyed very short downhill flights in bungee launched primary gliders. At the...

    Clocks

I used to always check the time on the clock on the Rotunda, when I was coming into town on the bus. I was usually "fashionably" late. :scream:

    save the wellingtons cats

I see that former England batsman David Lloyd (Bumble), has written about this in his "Bumble On The Test" column in today's "Mail on Sunday", under the headline "Restore The Cats": "Great uproar at The Wellington pub on Bennett's Hill, where the owners have banned the two cats Malt and Hops...

    Handsworth Golf Club

Was there once an airfield on the site of Handsworth Golf Course, or on part of it for gliders (in the 1930s)?

    save the wellingtons cats

As the petition now has over 4,500 signatures, it would be interesting to know how that compares with the number of any actual complaints Black Country Ale may have received, for them to feel able to use the term "many" when referring to people who do not want the unsolicited company of a cat...

    Handsworth Golf Club

I've played there many years ago. Lots of trees and a bit of water, as I remember all to well.... There is an 11 minute film available on YouTube that shows the course hole by hole: 365. Handsworth Golf Club. Smithy 100 Golf Courses in a Year

    save the wellingtons cats

Thanks Lyn. I think I had assumed from a quick read, that this would have had to have been a part of a blanket ban, which would have impacted on all "Black Country Ale" pubs. Not that I'm suggesting they would be after their blankets too! ;) I note the reference to pint or sandwich in my last...

    save the wellingtons cats

When I go to The Bull next, I will let my fellow quiz attendees know about this. All Black Country Ales cats (including the one at The Bull below) should stay in place, as Mike has rightly said, it's the board at BCA that need to go, with their tails between their legs! This cat (Ellie) is...

    save the wellingtons cats

My wife has just had a local BBC News alert on her mobile about the cat's at the Welly Lyn, which shows that the news is getting around. The cat at The Bull belonged to Rose (the previous landlady) and stayed behind, as it had grown so accustomed to being there. BBC link...
