    The Gunmakers Arms, Bath Street

Amazing that it was up for sale for as little as £80,000. Nice it's been kept open, hopefully when they eventually stop knocking everything down in the area and digging up the surrounding roads, there will be enough business for "The Pike & Musket" and The Bull, to both thrive alongside each...

Christmas Traditions – What Were Yours Growing Up?

We had a greengrocery shop that sold Turkeys, Christmas Trees and Christmas Wreaths, so Christmas was a very busy time of year. My Dad was always worried that we would be left with a number of these being left unsold, but he knew what he was doing, when it came to how many of each we would sell...

    Driving in Days Gone By

Our Morris Oxford shooting break was started with a starting handle and had indicators that came out on each side. I used to enjoy sticking my arm out of the window, when my Dad was turning left. I checked when the test stopped including hand signals, it was 1975.

Glad I'm not the only one Diane and Lyn, it's only the mirrors in my house and the time it now takes me to walk anywhere, that brings me back into reality. ;)

A sad loss. The Moody Blues gave us some great music and I'm glad that I got to see them play. RIP John.

There are some posts on page 1 of a previous thread "Station Road Erdington" from Morturn (post #4) and Alberta (post #20) that refer to Gibournes LP.

    Witton Road

I believe so. There wasn't the room inside the local shops for a pram, the customers and the shopkeepers to serve inside, so prams did tend to be left on or near the shop front for a minute or two. Both shopkeepers and mother would keep an eye on the baby's pram (which was often under the...

    RIP OZZY OSBOURNE

We watched "No Escape From Now" on Paramount+ yesterday. It covers Ozzy's final years very well, particularly the barriers that he overcame to perform at Perry Barr and Villa Park. As has been said by 1299 regarding his book, somehow it is both terribly sad, as well as so very funny in places...

Sad news, Eric will be much missed. His art captured a moment in time and each city scene that it featured. My thoughts are with his family and friends. - RIP.
